The newly constituted board of the NDDC has been advised not to succumb to acts of blackmail, intimidation and mudslinging by overzealous contractors out to cut corners for selfish interest.
Members of the Niger Delta Indigenous Contractors Association gave the advice when they paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr Christian Oboh at the commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The organization, led by the Chairman Board of Trustees, Chief Silas Kolomo told the board not to be distracted but to remain focused in its determined efforts towards ensuring the speedy development of the region.
“While urging desperate contractors to denounce blanketing the new board into making mistakes that will be regretted later, we must see the Niger Delta region as bigger than our personal desires” the Association said.
The Group applauded the new board for the achievements so far, pointing out that all actions of the board point to the fact that they have come to make a big difference in managing the affairs of the NDDC.
“We want to thank the NDDC for not only directing the release of funds for our students on the commission’s foreign scholarship, training eleven thousand youths in agriculture, disbursement of one billion Naira to beneficiaries of its entrepreneurial scheme and training of Niger Delta youths in welding and drilling” the group said.
Responding the NDDC Managing Director, Dr Christian Oboh assured that the commission will continue to partner with committed indigenous contractors to ensure the delivery of its mandate to the people.
“All our registered contractors who are doing very well , we will continue to partner with you to ensure that we deliver on our promise, if we give you contract to execute for us, we are empowering you, we are also empowering the region” Oboh said.
