Bonny Gets Security Organization

A security organization known as Ibani Diplomatic Intelligence Bureau, IDIB, has been formed in Bonny, Headquarters of Bonny Local Government Area.
In a chat with The Newswriter in his office at Bonny, the Director of IDIB, Mr. Reginald S. A. Hart, said the security organization was formed to assist government security agents in combating crimes in the area.
Mr. Hart said the idea began six years ago with the recruitment of about 150 members that were dispatched all over Niger Delta region to monitor pipe line vandalization and bring the culprits to book.
The Director noted that since the formation of the Security Watch, the headquarters has remained in Bonny and that the body had helped the police and other law enforcement agents in combating crimes in the area.
He pointed out that since the establishment of IDIB, Bonny kingdom has been a crime free kingdom including its environs, adding that members are properly screened before they are recruited and trained, although it is a volunteer service to the kingdom.
According to Mr. Hart, “since I was engaged as the community public relations officer attached to Perekule Palace, Bonny, I saw the need to groom up some able bodied youths who can assist in controlling abnormities in the area.”
He confirmed that the security group is more or less para-military outfit to assist government security agents lamenting that the government never funded the organization and that only chiefs pay their little stipends as mobility allowance.
The Director appealed to government to always support private security organizations so as to effectively work with law enforcement agents.
“For instance, Bonny flow station and oil pipelines cannot be blown up again as we are fighting against that”, he added
He called on government to enforce security enlightenment campaigns all over the country to the grassroots level.
The IDIB Director used the opportunity to congratulate the Amanyanabo in-council, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple, for his assistance to the security body. He also extended his good will message to the state governor and the chairman of Bonny local government Area for the tremendous development in the state and local government areas, respectively. ###
