ACN Queries Abandonment of Demolished Waterfronts

ACN Queries Abandonment of Demolished Waterfronts The Rivers chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, is worried that three years after the demolition of some Waterfronts in Port Harcourt, they are yet to be transformed into the safe haven promised by Gov Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Lamenting the parlous and worse state of the demolished sites, the publicity secretary of ACN, Jerry Needam in a press statement said the abandoned demolished sites are now better and safer hide-outs for criminals and hooligans and wondered why Gov. Amaechi was in such a mad rush to bring down the structures when he was not ready to make real his promise.
Most of the sites which have been taken over by weeds and turned to refuse dumps, the ACN noted, will cause the state another chunk of her resources to clear which otherwise should be channeled to other areas crying for attention.
“Gov. Amaechi owes the state an explanation over the abandonment of the demolished sites if he still denies the allegation that he had ulterior motives other than the intention to give the state capital a face lift and provide a modern and decent accommodation to Rivers people besides chasing out the criminals and deviants that used the sites as hide-outs, the ACN noted.
“The refusal of Gov Amaechi to develop demolished waterfronts further proves that the Rivers State government is broke and lacks money to embark on the development of demolished sites”, ACN further noted.
