The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, said the State Government would soon commence the building of a befitting NUJ Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt.
Mrs. Semenitari disclosed this when the out-going State Executive of the NUJ led by its Chairman, Mr. Opaka Dokubo paid her a courtesy visit in her office.
She commended the Executive for exhibiting professionalism in their practice during their tenure which had impacted positively on the governance of the State.
She gave the assurance that the building of the NUJ Secretariat would commence as soon as the budget is approved and adverts for the bidding would be made public.
Mrs. Semenitari advised them to shun all acts capable of undermining the ethics of the profession and urged them to update their knowledge to enable them fit into the digitization of the media sector which begins in December this year.
Earlier, the Chairman, Mr. Opaka Dokubo had thanked the Commissioner for her support during their tenure and expressed appreciation to the Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, for the excellent relationship between the Union and Government. ###
