The Business Manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, (PHCN) Diobu Unit, Engineer Festus A. Nmegbu has explained to our Newsdesk how some landlords cleverly defraud tenants and the Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
According to the outspoken manager, many landlords will collect bills from their tenants with the excuses of coming to pay but fail at the end, thereby defrauding the tenants as well as PHCN.
Speaking further, he said, this pitch the tenants against power holding company, when their lines were disconnected owing to this development not knowing that the money collected by their landlords were not paid to PHCN.
Engineer Festus A. Nmegbu also explained that many tenants on their own will enter into a house that has incurred lots of debts by a former occupant who parked out of that particular room, without finding out the true situation of the room on electric bills.
Explaining further he said, if the room one parked into is owing, it is assumed that you are the one owing, you will be sent bills as PHCN does not know you but knows the room you are occupying according to record and statistics concerning that room or structure as the case may be.
“Power Holding is not wicked. It does not know individuals, rather goes by the data fed into the system by those who registered the structure for use at the time of its existence as a building, he said.
The peace loving business manager of the Diobu business unit used the opportunity to advice customers to cross check facts before coming out to accuse Power Holding Company of Nigeria. He pointed out that the company’s customer care office is always open to aggrieved customers to always lodge their complains and to further work out an understanding relationship to have their problems settled once and for all.
To those who are packing into new residents, he advised that they should find out the electricity status of the building before making their payment as tenants, except he or she is not interested to use electricity throughout their stay in that particular building.
He further hinted that power holding will be very much happy with consumers to be more purposeful as to clear their debt as at when due, even as power Holding is doing everything possible to serve its customers with the best service. ###
