The President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Dr. (Engr.) Vincent Furo has without fear or favour said no state governor in the federal republic of Nigeria should have more than fifteen commissioners in his cabinet.
Dr. (Engr) Vincent Furo made this statement while speaking with The Newswriter in his office in Port Harcourt within the week.
He pointed out that this will enable the governors to cut down on government expenditure economically, rather than having a robust cabinet that does not produce results.
The golden hearted, outspoken president of PHCCIMA also said that in a way to check corruption in the Nigerian society all over Nigeria, no governor or public servant should have more than two cars, adding that even the two cars should be fueled by the Governor or the public servant.
Dr. Vincent Furo, is of the opinion that if Nigeria will wipe out corruption in the generality of its populace, then every office should maintain discipline, starting from the head to the last person in that organization.
“The way Nigeria society is now, corruption has eaten deep into every section of our lives and needed sincerity to purge us all to do the right thing,” he stated.
He appealed to public office holders to contribute their best as a way of challenging the next person who is coming to take over from them, noting that if every public office holder would be sincere in sanitizing his office before leaving, there will be less corruption in governance.
Speaking further, he said government is everyday business run and managed by human beings found within the society, as such, every person in the society is important for the day to day running of that government in the state.
He used the occasion to appeal to the youths to be good followers while being mentality alert to their responsibilities in providing their quota to make governance easy in the state, adding that in that way, the society will be a good place for us all to live in. ###
