Rivers CP Hails PCRC Programme On Crime Detection

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Suleiman Abba, has described the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) programme as an ambitious opposition to criminal acts in the state.
Abba disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Newswriter’s editor, over the weekend in his office at Port Harcourt, saying that the committee was unprecedented and placed it as a lead in crime detection in Nigeria.
He said the command is committed to partner the PCRC and would create opportunities for it to succeed in its efforts to protect its well articulated programme.
“The command has thrown its weight behind PCRC’s development efforts in the state and we identify with its existence,” Abbe stated.
According to him, “The PCRC is vibrant and have been working closely with the police. They understand our problem and work towards solving them. Equally the committee appreciates our efforts and supports us in doing more”.
The CP told The Newswriter, “members of PCRC have helped the police to assess our effectiveness and advised us to adjust where necessary”.
“Also”, he went on, “the PCRC in Rivers state periodically conducted workshops and conferences jointly with police officers of the area command and police divisional levels where members of the committee are sensitized on the importance of co-operating with the police to realize the objective of the protection of lives and property.
“I can gladly say that the partnership between the state police command and the PCRC at all levels is worthy of existence and emulation too. Therefore I highly request members of the public of every status, particularly those who have respect for laws and safety of the public to join the PCRC in its crusade to create the mutual trust between the police and members of public which will lead us to crime free society.
“As far as I am concerned the current exco of PCRC has performed marvelously. Similarly their performance at the area command and at divisional levels of the state is very encouraging.” ###
