President International of Transparency Leadership Initiative (TLI) and Ngo in Rivers State, Prince Nyeche Obinna has described the Nigeria leaders as a group of people who are not interested in the emancipation of the people of the country.
Obinna spoke to Newswriter editor immediately he returned to Port Harcourt after touring south/west, south/east and south south, six geo-political zones of the country and stated that his tour was in line to assess the geo-political relationship between leadership in Nigeria and culture, with a target to relate how well leadership has been in line.
“I noticed there is a big gap between leadership in the country and our culture. Especially we Africans have great values in humanity and sense of humour as a dignified people despite our languages and culture.
The Ngo chieftain lamenting the state of leadership in the country described them as unfair to the seeming neglect of humility.
“As a matter of fact most of our leadership has lost their leadership on culture, respect for humanity rule of law and positions they occupy. They have also lost moral values and sense of human as regards our rich cultural values. However, during my tour I discovered that the process through which leaders get into public offices makes it difficult for them to discharge their duties effective,” he said.
Mal-practices which the leadership indulges in, include money politics, nepotism, and god-fatherism, he said.
“Now that 2011 is come and gone we in Transparent Leadership Initiative hereby make a clarion call on all Nigerians no matter the position held, to trace back to their routes and re-apply the moral standard of our rich cultural values as a great nation. They should save the period to reassess their achievement as leaders and as followers to really ascertain how well they have represented our country. They should draw out action plan for 2012 to move the country forward, he added.
He admonished security agents to be at the peak of service and regretted the event of the 25th December bomb blast that claimed what 40 lives.
While wishing all Nigerians a happy and prosperous new year, Prince Obinna commended the Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for sponsoring culture and tourism via CarniRiv 2011 and urged the Amaechi administrative not to relent rather to promote our rich culture.
He congratulated all members of TLI both at home and in diaspora for their dedication to uphold good governance and transparency within the group’s activities in 2011. He pleaded with the TLI to continue being good ambassadors for the organization as “We get set for the implementation of our action plans for 2012.” ###
