Mosquitoes Invade Bodo City Community

A youth leader and one time Vice Chairman of Gokana Local Government Area, Hon. Pius Dukor, has called on the ministry of Health, Environment and other relevant government agencies to come to the aid of Bodo city community, for the elimination of mosquitoes in the area.
Hon. Dukor made the call at his home town Bodo City when the residents of the community complained of the high level of mosquitoes in the community and their sleeplessness.
The former vice chairman said the invasion of mosquitoes and other reptiles is due to the destruction of the eco-system and the surrounding environment of the community by the degree of spill that has made extinct the entire mangroves and swamps where the mosquitoes used as their hide-outs.
The Human Right Activist revealed that the rate of the mosquito bites has increased daily and if something is not done the children whose immune systems are weak, will be affected badly.
He blamed the invasion of the mosquitoes to environmental degradation of which Shell has accepted responsibility but failed to put in measures to minimize the sufferings of the masses.
“I am appealing on behalf of the voiceless in the society for a measurable control to avoid future out-break of sickness and diseases”, he said. ###
