Unemployed Youths May Go On Rampage In Bonny If…

The issue of unemployment has become unbearable to Bonny youths.
At recent times the Bonny Industrial Recruitment Centre (BIRC) has not been carrying out the function of its formation due to poor management of those at helm.
In a chat with The Newswriter, the leader of Bonny Youth Federation (BYF) comrade Gift Furo, confirmed that some companies operating in Bonny local government area of Rivers State have been paying deaf ear to the issue of youths employment.
The youth leader lamented that even communication houses operating in Bonny island failed to give employment to the youths, but kept on mounting masts.
He also frowned at some marine vessels operating Bonny river but refusing to employ the youths.
This publication learnt that series of appeals have been made to companies operating in the area, but no avail.
Mr. Furo called on government to urgently wade into the ugly conduct of the company heads in Bonny in the interest of peace, saying that the youths are not happy over marginalization of employment meted to them in Bonny
According to Furo, “the maritime use their marine vessels on our water ways and thereby causing hazards to our resources without compensation. If nothing is done urgently it may force us to go into rampage”.
The youth leader used the medium to warn the multinationals against employment at site, saying that early next year; any report(s) against any company employing at site will be seriously dealt with.
He used the opportunity to thank BYF congress members for re-electing him as the leader.
The leader assured that in his second term mandate, every youth will be carried along in scheme of things.
He however called on the government and the traditional institution to come to the aid of youths by making provision for employment through the companies operating in the area, while he advised the youths to be law abiding as they continue to go into dialogue,
“I wish all youths in Bonny compliment of the season”, he concluded. ###
