The Nigeria national team coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has planned the recall of the duo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and John Utaka to the Super Eagles squad, considering their current goal scoring form in their club sides in Europe.
It would be recalled that Aiyegbeni fell out of Favour from the general Nigeria football lovers when he failed to score the goal that could have taken Nigeria to the next level at 2011 South Africa FIFA world cup against South Korea.
Since then, the entire Nigerian football fans and followers of football have castigated the player, saying that the player’s days with the National team is over.
This singular action made even the former boss of the Eagles (Siasia) refusing to extend his invitation to the player in his Eagles rebuilding process.
John Utaka on the other hand, could not maintain his scoring form as he was known for, both in his European club side and when playing for the Eagles.
Combined with these, they fell out of favour with the handlers of the Super Eagles as well as the Nigerian Football family. With their current goal scoring form, the new boss of the team is planning a recall of the duo.
Coach Keshi even pleaded with Nigerians to forgive Aiyegbeni for his failure to score that crucial goal at the world cup and give him another chance, considering his goal scoring form.
According to him, “Aiyegbeni is a Nigerian like any other Nigerian, he needs to be forgiven for his mistake in the world cup now that he has picked his goal scoring form, having scored in few matches he had played. I think I would not mind bringing him to the Super Eagles. Goal-scoring is all what all Nigerians want, no matter what others think, about my decision” ###
