Sanitation Boss Assures Clean Environment In CARNIRIV … As Authority Concludes This Year’s Exercise

The chairman of the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority, Mr. Isoboye Jack, has assured Rivers people that the forthcoming CARNIRIV would witness clean, healthy environment, as the authority has made all necessary arrangements to the state.
In a chat with journalists during this month’s environmental sanitation exercise in Port Harcourt, Mr. Isoboye Jack disclosed that the authority has mapped out strategies to ensure clean environment during and after the forthcoming CARNIRIV which is slated to hold between 13th and 14th December, 2011 in the Garden City.
According to him the authority has set up sanitation task force which comprises TIMARIV and other agencies that would remove scrap vehicles, refuse and other untidy objects to bring out the true face of the garden city during and after the period.
Mr. Jack who was represented by his press secretary, Mr. Olalikan Ige, the editor of Independent Monitor newspaper, disagreed over speculations that there was apathy during the sanitation exercise.
According to him, “although we cannot have 100% participation but if I am asked to rate this month’s exercise I will rate it 70%.”
The sanitation boss further revealed that they have arrested 90% of the defaulters, adding that women were the worst culprits.
Mr. Jack who noted that the authority has continued to do its best to ensure that the residents comply with the sanitation authority to ensure clean environment, urged the public especially the women, to participate more actively in the sanitation exercise to ensure that the authority achieve their target of ensuring that Rivers State maintained its status as the most clean state in the federation.
Some of the places visited include Rumuokuta, Rumuola, Mile 4, Mile and other Diobu axis, town, Borokiri, St. Johns, Aba Road, Agip, D/line among others. ##
