Rivers Assembly Scores RSUST Low On Academic Rating

Sequred to the crises that rocked the Rivers State owned premier University of Science and Technology over non-graduation of post graduate students of the institution for three years and the inability to admits fresh student for two years, the State Legislature has invited the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Barineme Fakae and the registrar over alleged crises.
Hon. Chidi Julius Lloyd a lawmaker representing Emohua constituency and the leader of the House at the floor of the house during deliberation, had moved a motion praying that the post graduate school of the institution be investigated.
Hon. Lloyd in the motion observed the inability of the university authority to graduate the post graduate students and non admission of fresh students regretting that despite the flaw, student were compelled to pay huge amounts of money for their over-stay in the school.
He described the situation as disheartening, adding that if not checked would definitely put the future of the state in shamble.
In his words, the university is at the lowest in the academic rating, it is disheartening that the post graduate school is in crisis for three years, the school has not graduated any student and no admission for two years of this development is gray and if not checked it will risks the future of the state.
Hon. Lloyd therefore called for an immediate investigation on the matter as to bring the much desired solution to the institution.
In his contribution, Hon. Ikuinyi Ibani, a lawmaker representing Andoni constituency who noted that no nation can move forward without solid foundation in education, regretted that the motion presented by Lloyd came bit late considering three years of not graduating any students.
He further expressed worriness over the graduation of over 25, 000 students at the recent convocation held at the institution at the same time, stressing that it might not be unconnected with the anomalies in the institution which urgently needed to be addressed.
On his part, Hon. Golden Chioma of Etche II, disclosed that the institution has deteriorated badly, adding that the management extorted money from student.
Other members of the House who contributed to the motion such as Amadi of Etche I expressed worriness over the institution stressing that the management of the institution lack character and need to be investigated.
In his ruling, the speaker of the House Otelemaba Dan Amachree who presided over the sitting directed the clerk of the house to write and invite the Vice Chancellor and the registrar of the institution to appear on the floor of the house.
