ANLCA 2011: Chief Tob Sets Out For Chairmanship Restoration Agenda …as Chukwuma Ogbonnaya Offers Self For Service

A veteran freight forwarder and a member of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), chief Tob Ndukwe (KSM); has unfolded his restoration Agenda to effect positive change in the business and management of ANLCA, if given the mandate.
Chief Tob gave this charge while presenting his manifesto to run for the chairmanship position of ANLCA, Onne seaport chapter, Rivers State.
He anchored his speech on team work, pointing out that the incumbent administration lacked such, which brought about some of the difficulties that are being faced by members of the association.
Chief Ndukwe who commended the incumbent administrator for excelling in some area of infrastructure, said he would use his wealth of experience as a member of ANLCA since 1980s and having held several positions. He opined that his intention to offer himself for the chairmanship position was to render selfless service and not for personal aggrandizement.
Earlier on, the chairman of the occasion, Chief C. Omecheukuwu, lamented the predicaments of ANLCA members over the years, especially their inability to transport themselves to and fro Onne seaport, on a daily basis, much more their house rents. He affirmed that the reasons for restoration was to return to the status quo, as laid down by their predecessors. He noted further that ANLCA needed a man with the fear of God, which they found in the person of Chief Tob Ndukwe (KSM), who he believed has the experience and capability to lead the association to where it is supposed to be. Chief Omecheukwu urged members to go out there and make a difference on the election Day.
Speaking with newsmen at LA Kings, Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Venue of the occasion, Chukwuma Ogbonnaya, aspiring for the position of secretary of ANLCA, said he has offered himself to serve the association, having served at different leadership positions in schools and presently in his home town.
Mr. Chukwuma said he decided to give back to a profession that changed his life and business fortune in just two years of joining ANLCA. He wondered about the dwindling position of the profession over the time, hence the need to offer his contribution through the secretariat business of the association, and promised not to interfere in anybody’s position.
However, Chief Skido C.C. Okafor, another chairmanship aspirant of ANLCA, Onne seaport, believed in change which he said is the only way to help alleviate the years of sufferings of members. The man who has a vast knowledge in marine, oil and gas business argued that the election will never be a do or die affair, but one whose members will still identify with a particular team at the end of the day.
Other stakeholders who made contributions at the event include: Sir Vital Opara, the managing Director of Gevixx Marine and Oil Service Ltd, who called on members to stand firm in their positions to change that system that has impoverished them over the years, a system that has turned stakeholders to push overs and members of ANLCA to mere beggars.
Hon. Vital was optimistic that whatever processes the election takes, that positive change will be the order of the day.
Chief Teddy E. Alozie, chairman/CEC of Saloz Investments Ltd, commended the efforts of the incumbent administration, stating that since no man has monopoly of knowledge, that there is need to move the association to the next level, in order to restore the lost honour and dignity of the profession that has almost gone down the drain.
Chief Teddy sued for peace and urged members to vote rightly, since they are all working for the common good of ANLCA. Conclusively, Mr. Sunny Kings, the managing Director of Trade Mark Nig. Ltd, believed in restoration and whatever that will improve the welfare and living conditions of members. He called for peaceful co-existence amongst contestants and electorate before and after elections. ###
