Book Debut: Public Admin. Principles, Theories & Practice ……as A .1. Nyinoerefaka Calls For Honouring Of Invitations

Observers have over the time, scold the lackluster of Nigerians in honoring invitation on book launch. It is of note that Nigerians devote more time, honoring political calls than any other; with the intent of food and money rewards at the end of the day. Making it difficult for them to attend book lunch, where they may be expected to appreciate the effort of author(s); by pinking one or more copies of their book (author’s), for their own good.
That is one issue that was emphasized – on by every speaker that attended the presentation and formal launch of book titled: “Public Administration (Principles, Theories and Practice),” co-authored by Elder Jude Nwoka and Cornell C. Chikere, at Aldgate Congress Hl,4bacha Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The book launch which was under the distinguished Chairmanship of Prof. B.C. Didia, University of Port Harcourt, Choba, Hon. Tony Okocha, Rivers Sate Government I-louse, Port Harcourt; Father of the Day, Chief C.N. Okabie (JP), the Paramount Ruler, Rumu-Omoi Community; Obio/Akpo LG A and the book reviewer, Dr. Sam Otamiri, Rivers State University of Education, St. John’s Campus, Port Harcourt, as special guests of honour.
Presenting his address, Elder I. Nwoka noted that the day’s witness was an ”unconscious thought to gather information on what constitute public administration in Nigeria such that it should be writing from the country’s view point in relation to needs, aspirations and culture”. Elder Nwoka opined that the book ‘Public Administration, Principles, Theories and Practice is “a guide to all public and private practitioners for the efficient and effective manag3ment of resources towards societal development”. It is therefore important to note that the book is a contribution to growing literature in the field of public administration and to be appropriately seen as a public administration simplified. Elder Nwoka expressed further that the book is a basic text for all students, practitioners of public administration as well as politicians at all level. He therefore thanked those, whose valuable assistance made the book a reality. However, Chief Hon. K. K, Gbeke, lecturer, University of Education, Rivers State, who took over the chairmanship position in the absence of Prof B.C. Didia, stated that the hall would have filled to the brim, If the occasion was to be for the sharing of money. He commended the authors for their courage and good work, and urged Elder Nwoka to continue in his selfless service to humanity.
Meanwhile, the book presenter, Chief Azubuike Womah had requested that the book be subsidized to be in the reach of students; while Dr. Sam Otamiri, the book reviewer made justice to the book by pointing out some significant chapters and paragraphs in the book to the audience, that hinged on the importance of public administration to public holder and the presentation of decision making amongst others. In an interview, Hounsa Joseph, the Executive Chef of Novotel Hotel, Port Harcourt, praised Elder Jude Nwoka whom he described as a dogged fighter, a man that never allow taught to die-off. Hounsa was optimistic that Elder Nwoka will in no distance time, be in the likes of Prof. Wole Soyinka.
In the same vein, Mr. Aseminaso I. Nyingerefaka, a formal staff of Rivers State University of Education, Port Harcourt, eulogized the authors of the book for putting their taught and knowledge in black and white, which h said will help advance the country, than for people to die with their taught or visions. Mr. Aseminaso used the medium to call on those Nigerians in the habit of absenting on invitations to always try and redeem their images by being present at the occasions, not necessarily for the sake of money.
Mr. Comell C. Chikere, one of the author of the book, in his closing remarks thanked all that attended their book presentation/launch, for finding time to honour their invitation. ###
