The Port Harcourt Club 1928 social recreational club has reelected Barr. Golden Tamuno, to pilot the affairs of the club, as its president for another one year.
Golden Tamuno has just ended his one year tenure as president of the club, but due to his vibrant, charismatic nature and for bringing changes and development to the club, he was returned unopposed as the club’s president to place the club on a fast lane of development, to compete with other recreational social clubs in the country.
The first tenure of Barr. Golden Tamuno as president of Port Harcourt club 1928, witnessed a tremendous improvement.
First, all sections were reawakened to their responsibility of bringing their section members together in unity and peace.
Friendship and understanding became the order of his first tenure.
More tournaments were organized in almost all the sections of the club.
President Tamuno’s first tenure, despite the state government neglect of attending to the club’s facilities, was on ground to host the just concluded 17th National sports festival in three major events, namely Dart, Golf and Lawn Tennis, producing the gold medal for the state in two of the events.
The Golf and Lawn Tennis sections organized the most tournaments in the Tamuno-led administration than any other president who had reigned as president of Port Harcourt club 1928.
In a chat with The Newswriter sports desk, President Tamuno disclosed that his administration has witnessed tremendous development more than any other president before him in the club because his administration is focused on development of the club. He stated that the club will witness more development in the areas of facilities, creating more avenues to make friendship with other social recreational clubs, projects drive that will give every member of the club happy and proud.
He also said despite the neglect of the state governor, who is also a member of the club to support the Port Harcourt club, the club will forge ahead with a purposeful People-oriented understanding.
On his re-election by members of the club, he said he will carry every member of the club along.
“Every member of Port Harcourt is an equal stake holder, as such all good ideas from all members will be put to use, to place the club on the fast lane of development.”
He appealed to members of the club to feel free to move the club to a higher ground, stating that he would operate an open government to accommodate every member of the club. ###
