Muaythai Amateur Open Championship Comes Up November 16

The National stadium of Nigeria, Surulere, Lagos, will be agog as Muaythai National Open Amateur Championship will kick-off. Muaythai is the Thailand name for kick boxing.
The championship will last for five days, geared towards selecting the best Muaythai sportsmen to represent the Nigerian federation in the forth coming Olympics.
Revealing this to our sports desk was the Association’s Scribe, Okechkwu Eluagu. According to him, since 2001 Nigeria has been involved in the game and even featured in Imo 98 national sports festival with the name kick boxing.
Revealing further, he said the championship will look towards featuring senior category of Muaythai sportsmen come 16th and ends 20th November, 2011.
He added that Muaythai is the hottest sport in the continent of Asia, even as the sport becomes the most rewarding sport in America today.
Okechukwu Eluagu, also disclosed that he is a qualified national grade one referee official of the game. All other arrangements have been put in place for the association to host a smooth problem-free National Muaythai Amateur Open Championship.
He also said the sport has been admitted by the Olympic committee of sports, as one of the sports that would be competed for. The combative sport is now an Olympic sport.
Happy for this development, Eluagu said the Nigerian Muaythai Association is seriously putting finishing touches to see that Nigeria is well represented in the Olympic.
Concluding, he called on the Nigerian public to come cheer their stars into victory come 16th to 20th November, 2011. ###
