A Non-governmental Organization (NGO) in Rivers State, Transparent Leadership Initiative has ended her first national executive committee meeting in Port Harcourt after arriving at several decisions that bothered on the members and general public.
Members of the exco were seriously advised to be true ambassadors of good governance knowing that they are vessels in God’s hand in the course of upholding good governance in Nigeria and other countries.
Speaking in an interview with The Newswriter editor, the International President of TLI, Engr. Prince Onyeche Promise Obinna, said top of the decisions include formal launching of new secretariat in Port Harcourt and anti-corruption and crime prevention in line with national committee police campaign to checkmate crime for the festive period ahead.
However, Prince Obinna also advised his members to trumpet the message of promoting national integration and unity, respecting the laws, rules, regulations of the country, to all Nigerians residing in the states of Nigeria and to stay out of crime and dubious acts that tarnish the image of our great nation as, “We are ready to fight it out with anybody that brings bad name no matter whose ox is gored,” he stated.
The president appreciated the efforts of TLI members, board of trustees, patrons and matrons, associates and affiliated members and other international stakeholders.
He called on the government to be proactive on issues that affect the citizens of the country, urging all parastatals of government to live up to their responsibilities so as to bring about the true dividends of democracy to the nation.
Engr. Prince Obinna briefed members of the proposed meeting with international bodies and their readiness to support Nigeria in the rebranding message of transformation.
He promised to launch the TLI operation fully in the six geo-political zones by the end of December, 2011. ###
