Former Super Eagles, ex-international striker, Richard Owubokiri has pledged to assist Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt. Richard Owubokiri who actually started his professional football career from the Port Harcourt side, spoke with our sports anchor two weeks ago at Sharks stadium, where he was watching Sharks train.
Speaking passionately to our man, the ex-international said he has made his promise to assist Sharks in different ways but he will keep his promises to himself, stating that he has seen the Rivers state commissioner for sports, Hon. Fred Igwe.
To further stress his interest in his former foundation laying clubside as upcoming professional footballer, he has taken out his time to watch them train at their base.
When further asked by The Newswriter Sports desk, the Okrika born Super Eagles ex-international football star said, he has spoken to the coach, adding that if the management is willing, he will keep his promise.
Richard Owobokiri who is now a FIFA licensed football agent hinted that he will always assist his home front if he is called upon to serve. He stated that he was brought up here in Port Harcourt at No. 11A Hospital Road, hence there is no way he will not remember his own.
“This is my home. Why won’t I assist my own? I will always serve my own willingly if I am called upon”, he said.
He stated that both state and the nation, if he is called upon he will give his input to contribution to the growth of Nigerian football. However, he has never been contacted. ###
