We’ll Deliver On Road Projects – RSG

The Rivers State Government says it will deliver on all road projects it has embarked upon before the end of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi administration.

Dropping the hint during a Press briefing inPort Harcourt, the State Information and Communications Commissioner, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari announced that so far the State government has

completed a total of 200 urban and rural roads across the State.

Mrs. Semenitari who said that the necessity for the Press briefing was to inform the people that the State government is aware of whatever challenges they face in terms of road situation in Port Harcourt City and Obio/Akpor Council areas and indeed the entire State.

She assured that most of the present challenges on road will be attended to seriously by the government as we approach the dry season beginning from next month.

On why some roads may be giving way, Mrs. Semenitari explained that it may be as a result of heavy tonnage pressure on the road infrastructure, saying that virtually all roads in the State go through immense daily pressure of usage, particularly due to high volume of oil and gas activities in the area.

The Commissioner appealed to the people to be patient with government, noting that the present administration will not abandon any of its projects.

According to Mrs. Semenitari, Governor Chibuike Amaechi is putting a lot of pressure on all political appointees to monitor government projects in the area with a view to ensuring that they are completed and also according to specifications.

On the unfounded fear that the monorail project may be abandoned, Mrs. Semenitari assured that it is not true that the project is a white elephant project or a drain pipe for scarce State government resources as purportedly rumoured by cynics.

She stated that the State government is fully committed to the completion of the monorail project for the good of the people.

Mrs. Semenitari noted that those who peddle unnecessary rumours about the project must be persons with obvious political interests to disparage the State government that is on selfless mission to provide alternative and modern means of transportation for the people.####
