The Rivers State Commissioner for works, Hon. Victor Giadom has charged engineers in his ministry to position themselves as instrument of change in reviving the standard of engineering practice in the state.
He gave the charge during a reception organized by the ministry for the first batch of engineers who returned to the state after six week information exchange programme with the Pennsylvania department of transportation in USA, recently.
The commissioner urged the engineers to justify the funds expended on their training through quality service delivery as government has assured of its willingness to improve on the number of engineers that would be sent overseas next year, if the first batch beneficiaries lived up to expectation.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Engineer Atemie Briggs expressed gratitude to the Rivers state government for sending them overseas for the short term in-service training programme, and assured the state government of their preparedness to put into practice the modern induction training they have been exposed to, so as to achieve better and more effective delivery of engineering services in the state.
The commissioner for the works ministry, Hon. Victor Giadom appeal to his staff to be dedicated and committed to duty while receiving their pay as civil servant of Rivers State, as the ministry is prepared to send faithful serving engineers for further trainings overseas. ####
