Help! Isaac Boro Park, the only Rivers State manageable tourist site in the state has become a breeding ground for common criminals, as day by day these unwanted fellows of demeaning behaviour gather at the right extreme wing of the park, either playing gamble or fighting.
Sometimes they are seen half naked sleeping on the bench meant for tourists to relax.
Our news desk has been monitoring the place for months and can authoritatively reveal that even the tickets and security personnel are afraid of their lives, as these good for nothing group of human beings have threatened them times without number.
When The Newswriter news desk visitedIsaacBoroParkof recent, the situation has not changed, despite the efforts of the men of Old GRA, Forces Avenue Police officers, giving them the chase of their lives.
They do not waste one minute to come back to occupy the tourist centre, as if the government build that site for them to habit.
The authority overseeing the tourist site has done nothing to reduce this incessant harassment of the site. Our correspondent who visited the authority’s main office atNo. 10 Aba Roadtoo was not accommodated, as the chairperson is always not present in office.
The administrative officer in all the occasions could not offer reasons as to why things are going the way they are going on inIsaacBoroPark.
An ugly situation this correspondent witnessed at the main gate of the site, was one that calls for government’s intervention if it cares for the lives of those working for the it.
The security man was almost beaten by church members whom he accosted for using the place illegally.
