Ignatius Ajuru University, French Department, Celebrates French Day With Excellence

The Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, French Department of Humanity, on Thursday, October 13, 2011, ended the department’s second semester with celebration of French Day with excellence, as drama and songs were performed by the students of the department.

Speaking to The Newswriter shortly after the epoch making ceremony, Dr. Priye Iyalla Amadi, the department Head, expressed happiness to mark the end of the department second semester.

According to her, she aimed to achieve excellence with the programme. As she puts it, “French was not being well appreciated in the Nigerian society today”, hence she decided to prove that, her department is training up French language ambassadors for the future.

The department of humanity, French language section students, having constituted themselves into a club, proved what Dr. Priye Iyalla Amadi had earlier said, as the students performed with French language live on stage drama and songs to the admiration of guests of the occasion.

In showing appreciation to the Vice Chancellor of the institution who was represented by the Dean of Faculty, Mrs. Ware Bokowe and other dignitaries, gifts were presented by the students of the department. The department also received a new professor to boost the academic strength of the department.

The ceremony ended with group photographs taken with the students of the department, staff and special guests. ###
