The Fruits and Vegetables Sellers Association,RiversStatechapter, has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The election and the inauguration ceremony took place at the Port Harcourt City Local Government Council hall last Friday.
The break down of the result of the election proved that Prince Felix Atkins Taribo, the former chairman of the association was re-elected as chairman, polling 132 votes to defeat his rival, chief Maxwell Nwala, who scored 87 votes, while Mr. Fubara Martins got 3 votes.
Others, who were elected include, Mr. Nasiru Abraham, Vice Chairman, Mr. Andrew Addy, General Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel, Treasurer, Mr. Iwu, Assistant Secretary.
The rest were, Dubros D.L.S. Auditor, Prince Paul Financial Secretary, Mr. Gift, Public Relation Officer, while the post of Provost went to Mr. Gambo Idris who scored 128 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr. Sunday ASP, who got 57 votes.
In a chat with journalists the electoral committee chairman, Chief Louise Nwosu who expressed his profound gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the election, described it as the most peaceful in the history of Nigeria elections, adding that the election held despite the rumours across the state that it would not hold because he and his team would overthrow the incumbent association’s administration and enthrone sellers as executive chairman and members. He said that the election has vindicated him and his team.
He advised the losers to embrace the winner and that the winner should carry everyone along to move the association forward.
The newly elected chairman, Prince Felix Taribo Atkins who expressed joy for emerging the chairman of the association for the second time, commended members of the association for voting him and his colleagues.
He assured service delivery and carrying everyone along, including those who lost the election. He also promised to work as a team with members of his executive to ensure that he consolidated on his achievements during his first tenure in office.
Prince Felix Atkins who promised not to leave anyone behind enjoined all members to co-operate with his team to move the association forward. ###
