Bayelsa State Police Command in an holistic move to curb crime rate, on October 3, 2011, has arrested a group of criminals.
The Commissioner of Police,BayelsaState, Mr. Aliyu Musa, while parading the suspects during a press briefing at the Bayelsa State Police Command Headquarters, stated that a group of criminals snatched a Honda Accord Car (End of Discussion) at gunpoint.
Acting in response to a distress call, policemen swung into action and the vehicle was later recovered at Igbogene after an intensive battle and one of the suspects arrested while others ran away.
Also, the CP noted that on September 11,2011, at Akaibiri village in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, two vehicles and three Ak 47 rifles with 107 rounds of 7.63mm prohibited ammunition were found in possession of two suspects namely: Bunas Samuel Michael, ‘Male’ and Sakafemolt Oyinprey, ‘Male’ both of Yenagoa and Sagbama Local Government Areas Of Bayelsa State respectively.
The suspects were alleged to be kidnappers and sea pirates as they were arrested by JTF on information and handed over to the police for proper investigation and prosecution.
Police in a determined move to reduce crime rate in Bayelsa State, also arrested three other suspects, namely, Teimo Gbefa, male, Suwan Raphael, male and Oweifa Peremo for questioning as to know the veracity of their involvement in the alleged case.
