Chieftaincy Ministry Embarks On Human Capacity Development

The Rivers State Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs has promised to develop human capacity in the state through sowing, knitting and catering programmes.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry; Ms. Kadilo Brown explained that the need to develop human capacity in the state cannot be over-emphasized.
Kadilo Brown who spoke at the Craft Centre, Aba Road, venue of the training, said the programme, being the second batch is meant to reach out to the less privileged ones in the society, selected from the 23 local government areas of the state, adding that every individual upon the face of the earth has been blessed with a talent, but noted that these talents have not been utilized.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the more reasons for the event is to bring out the talent in the future leaders of tomorrow, adding that these talents would be steered in a direction that will add value to, and develop human capacity, in the state. “As we are adding value to their lives, they are also giving back to the society where they live,” she stated.
She went further to say that one of the challenges facing human capacity development is the self centredness of people, adding that it is for this reason that the ministry decided, through the state government’s sponsor, to identify talents to create a difference in the society.
She explained further that the programme which is yearly has already trained 50 males and females and empowered them according to their performances to be on their own. “We are ready to take more than 50 in each batch, but we lack space to accommodate them, she emphasized.
Brown called on non governmental organizations (NGOs) to sponsor the programme, adding that the registration of trainees is tagged at N1,000 only for now to have free training. ###
